 For this article, I interviewed the founders of a local SLC coffee company called Projectionist Coffee. Projectionist Coffee was one of Even Stevens' artisan craft partners and sold their coffee roasts at the Draper location.

Good Coffee in SLC? Salt Lake City, Utah? I know what you’re thinking, isn’t that a double negative? The unknown, the forbidden fruit. Sure, that might have been true 15 years ago. But today in 2016, there is such a thing as a Utah coffee culture. The Projectionist, one of our local partners and whose coffee we sell at our Draper location, is a Utah coffee company that is flourishing.

Non-Profit Feature Article: First Step House

 Part of Even Stevens' cause is that they donate a sandwich for every one you buy, and some of the donated goods went to First Step House. I interviewed to the Chef at First Step House to find out how the donated goods were being put to use.

Biscuits and gravy, Spanish rice, sweet-and-sour pork, and barbecue chicken are just a handful of meals served last week at First Step House’s recovery campus in downtown Salt Lake City. Gabriel Jackson, chef and food service manager at First Step House, has been slowly oven roasting pork since 6 a.m. that morning for the lunch special of the day: sweet pulled pork sandwiches with homemade coleslaw. Jackson manages the menus for First Step House’s two food service locations. Not only is he cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week; but is creatively planning how to successfully turn food donations (including Even Stevens’ bread, meat, cheese and produce) into diverse meals. Now multiply that to serve 180 men, using two different kitchens. Yep, that equals a lot of work.

Sauces, dressings, and vinaigrettes Oh MY! Did you know that here at Even Stevens we make most of our condiments in house? Our resident Chef Brandon is always pushing the boundaries and thinking of new flavor combos or testing different recipes. From old school classics like our slopp sauce for our Sloppy Joes to our unique maple mustard, each of our condiments is a mixture of labor of love, surprising flavors, and secret twists...Or not so secret anymore. Here are some of our favorite condiments on the menu explained.
